Dr Maria Caporali (Univ. Sesto Fiorentino)
Institute for the Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds
Maria Caporali received her Diploma in 1998 and her Doctoral degree in Chemistry in 2003 from the University of Florence. After a post-doctoral stay at the Technical University of Eindhoven (NL) working on homogeneous catalysis, she moved back to Italy and joined the Institute for the Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds (CNR ICCOM) in Florence, working on white phosphorus activation mediated by late transition metals. Her current research focuses on low-dimensional nanomaterials, as nanostructured metal phosphides and 2D black phosphorene pointing to its application in catalysis, photochemistry and in the biomedical field.

Prof. Manuel Alcarazo (Univ. Göttingen)
Manuel Alcarazo received his PhD in 2005 from the Instituto de Investigaciones Químicas (CSIC) (Dr. José M. Lassaletta) on the “Synthesis and structure of new NHC-ligands”. He then performed postdoctoral research at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim/Ruhr (Prof. Dr. Alois Fürstner) on the “Design and applications of ylidic and bis-ylidic systems” and “Enantioselective protecting group-free total synthesis of ecklonialactone A and B” befiore becoming Independent Junior Group Leader at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim/Ruhr. He became Full Professor (W3) of Organic Chemistry, Institute of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry, University of Göttingen and is now the Director of the Institute of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry, University of Göttingen.

Prof. Henning Jessen (Univ. Freibourg)
Henning Jessen was born in Hamburg, Germany, where he also studied Chemistry. He received his diploma in 2005 and his doctorate in 2008 in the group of Professor Chris Meier. He then moved for a postdoctoral stay to the group of Professor Karl Gademann, first at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne and later at the University of Basel, Switzerland. In 2011 he moved to the University of Zuerich, Switzerland, to start his Habilitation in the group of Professor Jay Siegel. He was promoted to SNF assistant professor early 2015. Since October 2015 he holds a chair of Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Freiburg. Research in the group is focused on the function and correlation of cellular phosphate conjugates by combining approaches of chemistry and biology.

Communications orales
